Facilities

The Company occupies seven bays of the main fabrication shop at Haverton Hill Shipyard (formerly Swan Hunter), a covered area of 45,000 ft² approximately. The site is located on the River Tees, and the existing riverside facilities are used regularly including a 2000 tonne capacity load out quay. The local road network is good with wide load access to the A19 (and therefore the A1) only one mile away. Other nearby quayside facilities which are easily accessible include Tees Offshore Base and the deepwater port Tees Dock.

The fabrication shop is currently served by two 15.0 tonne, one 10.0 tonne and two 40.0 tonne Overhead Travelling Cranes with maximum hook heights of 10.5m and 17.0m respectively.

The two main access doors are 10.0m wide and 9.5m high and 17.2m wide and 15m high (for larger structures).

The electricity supply is distributed in 440v 3 phase and 110v single phase with 240v supplied to the offices. The telephone system is digital, utilising ISDN.

External storage areas are available if required, as is additional internal floor space.

Our painting sub-contractor (Universal Coatings) is accessible by internal site roads which enables us to have very large structures (up to 12.0m wide) treated.

In 2008, assisted by financial support from One North East and The European Regional Development Fund, a new wireless controlled 40 tonne Overhead Travelling Crane was installed with a second unit added in 2011.

In 2009, for project requirements, Marine Fabricators manufactured and installed a triple-panel sliding door 17.2m wide and 15.0m high in Bay 7 of the workshop. This has direct access to the load out quay.
